Economic Census

The Economic Census of 2007, 2002, and 1997 are available via American Factfinder , (new interface) from the Census Bureau. The release schedule for the 2007 Census indicates the quarter in which statistics will become available.  The Annual Survey of Manufactures is conducted in years NOT ending in 2 and 7. See also the Economic Census website from the Census Bureau.

The Census Bureau chart on "How to Find the Latest Business Data" includes many series of data - manufacturers' shipments, etc.

Note: industry codes are NAICS ; prior censuses had data in SIC codes.  The concordances page from the Census Bureau provides spreadsheets of the codes (there have been several editions of both codes).  Also useful is the 1997 NAICS and 1987 SIC correspondence tables .  And, the Census Bureau also has a page for Comparing Historical Data
