If you need help with a Data Management Plan (DMP), please visit the DMPTool or contact our Digital Scholarship Librarian, Susan Parham at Susan.Parham@library.gatech.edu

Making data available

The AHRQ Public Access Policy has data requirements both before and after your grant is approved. The requirements will go into effect October 1, 2015.

Before: Beginning October 1, 2015 your proposal must include a Data Management Plan (DMP), which should cover the following:

  • Plan for protecting confidentiality and privacy;
  • How data will be shared, including plans for long-term preservation and access, or an explanation for why data cannot be shared; and
  • Which publicly accessible database will be used for data sharing. AHRQ expects to fund a database for this purpose.

After: Your research data must be placed in a digital repository named in your DMP. AHRQ plans to fund a commercial repository by October 2015, and they will require, as of October 2015, that all researchers submit digital data to the repository. More details to come, so check back soon.

UPDATE: The AHRQ has released more detailed data management guidelines via the notice NOT-HS-20-011. Read in full here: https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-HS-20-011.html
