LibGuides Rubric

This guide helps you understand the expectations for LibGuides

What is this guide?

This LibGuide is the rubric by which all Georgia Tech Library LibGuides are evaluated. Each page explains what is excellent, needs improvement, and unsatisfactory output for each category. The LibGuides editorial team is glad to direct all guide authors to trainings and can meet with folks one-on-one for assistance.

The goal of the LibGuides editorial team is for all content to be audience appropriate, instructional and to share the expertise of Georgia Tech Library employees in alignment with the best practices of writing for the web.

Refer to the editing guidelines when starting a new guide, and use this rubric to evaluate your guide after you complete your draft.

How to evaluate your guide

For each section of the rubric, evaluate your guide and assign a point value:

  • 2 points for Excellent
  • 1 point for Needs Improvement
  • 0 points for Unacceptable

As Status may be out of your control when you have a new guide, you can ignore that section when tallying your total points.

Taking into account the first twelve criteria, the LibGuides Team has set a threshold of 18 points as the minimum standard. This is based on a score of Excellent for six criteria and Needs Improvement for the other six criteria.

You should strive for the maximum score of 24 (or 26 after your guide is published).
