Profile and help boxes

Every guide page should have either a profile or a help/contact box. This will go under the tabbed navigation on the left side of the LibGuide. Not every guide needs a specific profile box, but there should be a means for users to get help if they need it. 

Set up your profile

To get started with LibGuides, you need to set-up a profile. This appears in each of your guides and usually includes your phone number, office location, email and photo.

  1. Select My Profile from the LibGuides dashboard.
  2. Change Profile Box Title to "Need help?"
    1. Optionally, add your pronouns.
  3. Under Profile Image select "Upload a new profile image" and Select New Image. Add your professional photo (use the one from the staff directory). You profile image should be your official Georgia Tech Library headshot. 
  4. In the Contact info section under Email Address, enter your library email address.  
    1. Optionally, add your library office address and phone number.
    2. Optionally, add your library subject expert profile link to website / blog.
  5. Fill in any additional contact links you would like under Social Media, Social Cataloging, or Widgets.

Your profile will look something like this:

Profile Boxes

To add your Profile Box to a page, follow these instructions.

1.       Select add Box at the bottom of the left column.
2.       Name the box "Need help?" (if necessary).
3.       Use the dropdown arrow next to type to select Profile.
4.       Click Save.

If you want to display more than one Profile Box (or if you are creating a guide for someone else and want their box to show instead of yours), follow these instructions.

1.       Select add Box at the bottom of the left column.
2.       Name the box "Need help?" (if necessary).
3.       Use the dropdown arrow next to type to select Profile.
4.       Click Save.
5.       You will see your own profile box appear.
6.       Click the gear icon.
7.       Select an additional person to add.
8.       The box will now show that person's profile box instead of yours.

Choose GT Side Nav - Automatic Profile Box to automatically add your profile box to each page of a guide.

 

 

Generic contact and help boxes

There are some guides or topics that do not need a specific owner, such as the "How to use and create citations," guide. You can add a generic help box to the left navigation so users can get help from Public Services. 

You need to go click "Add box" and select "Reuse existing box" when prompted. The generic help box is found under the, "How to use and create citations," guide. Select "Need help?" and do not copy the box.
